On the route from north to south there you will find appealing and extremely popular day trips into the diverse holiday regions ‘between the seas’. Its maritime flair makes Flensburg, the gateway to the north, particularly attractive. The cathedral and museum city of Schleswig draws in many visitors thanks to Schloss Gottorf and its location directly on the river Schlei. The world’s busiest artificial route for seagoing vessels, the Kiel Canal, never fails to fascinate, particularly when the enormous container ships and luxury cruise liners make their way along it.
