Inland region
Große Nübelstraße 31
25348 Glückstadt
A long way off the beaten track, you will find unadulterated nature and typical north German hospitality in the land between the North and Baltic seas. There is something for everyone to taste. Discover the region alongside the Kiel Canal, the maritime stretch of the Unterelbe, the natural parks of central Holstein, the forest and wetland areas of Holsteiner Auenland and the Danish flair of the very north of the Germany. We invite you to partake in memorable trips on land and at sea, sometimes action-packed, sometimes relaxed, but always with a typical north German character.
Sights of interest and places to visit
In the Green Inland – right up in the north – you encounter history at every turn: the Dannewerk, the largest archaeological monument in northern Germany, the Arnkielpark in Munkwolstrup or the memorials in Sankelmark.
Come and see Germany’s largest market place in Heide with its weekly market and events. Marvel at the great ships on the Kiel Canal and the historic stately homes and estates in the town of Bovenau. The Molfsee Open-Air Museum in Molfsee and the sculpture park in Nortorf are also well worth seeing. Lake Einfeld viewing points showing all kinds of information and the Cloth and Technology textile museum are great reasons to visit the equestrian town of Neumünster. Seventeen hectares in full bloom await you in the Ellerhoop Arboretum, and in the pottery town of Kellinghusen you can marvel at original faience. Whether it is the lowest point in mainland Germany, the Brunsbüttel locks, the welcome point in Wedel or the Glückstadt town memorial – you will constantly sense the maritime flair along the Unterelbe.
